What's your sign?

A new rage infiltrating the media is baby sign language. There are books, television shows, classes, and groups, etc…dedicated to teaching your little bundle of joy to communicate with you before they are even capable of speaking. I know several moms who use sign language with their children and more power to them. Even though Zany Janie was not taught sign language she has come up with several creative ways to communicate her needs and wants, including:

*"Please change my diaper": Turn beet red and make an obvious straining expression, then
smile.
*"I'd like something to eat, please": Cram fist in mouth and suck away.
*"I'm tired": Make a series of weeping gestures before closing eyes and passing out.
*"Please pass me that object, I can't reach it": Point and grunt, then continue pointing and open
mouth into screaming position. If object is not retrieved in a timely manner use blood curdling
scream.
*"No thank you. I think I've had enough": Throw food or object to floor with exaggerated grin.

So there you go…Baby sign language at its finest!

Zany thought of the day: There are so many ways to express yourself without using words. What’s your favorite sign?

I really liked this blog! I never got into the whole sign language thing either. We've got our "signs" that work just fine for us haha. My favorite is when my son does something wrong, and before I even get the chance to do or say anything, he looks at me and opens his mouth then covers it with his hand. (like the "uh-oh i'm in trouble look") haha.

LOL! Sign language is something I wanted my daughter to take up in high school. I think it is beautiful and not enough humans know how to use it.

I LOVE your daughters sign language and found myself "seeing" each of the "signs/situations", brought me back to when our grown kids were babies...such a short time ago. Where does the time go Zany?

Your blogs are great!
