I'm sure this will come as no surprise to most of you, but my 2 1/2-year-old Wacky Zacky broke his arm! I guess with all the climbing, jumping, and daredevil behavior it was inevitable that Wacky Zacky would get a broken bone sooner or later. I just thought it would be later rather than sooner. I'm sad to say my little man is now sporting a cast on his right arm.
Wacky Zacky was a little trooper about the whole thing. He let the MD examine him without a fight. He sat still for all but one x-ray (for that x-ray I had to hold his arm straight for the technician while Wacky Zacky shrieked in pain). Wacky Zacky decided it was worth all the trouble after the X-ray technician gave him a Mater sticker. It's good to know that all can still be forgiven for a sticker.
On the way back to the MD's office Wacky Zacky kept asking me if the MD would give him a band aide. I told him "I don't know" all the while thinking I sure hope not for your sake sweetie! Once in the office the MD looked at the x-rays and Wacky Zacky began whispering, "Mommy, MD give Zacky band aide?" The MD heard him and told him, "I think I might have to give you a gigantic band aide buddy!" It was found that Wacky Zacky's missed step had caused a fracture above and below his elbow.
I sat in shock as I watched Wacky Zacky sit still while a baby cast was put on his arm. He never flinched, yelled, or cried! He just sat in awe and watched the technician. While his cast was being made, a 5-year-old came into the room to have a cast put on his leg. They asked his mother if her son had ever had a cast before and she said, "Yes when he was 2 he broke his arm". The technician working with Wacky Zacky giggled and said "See what you have to look forward to!" We were left with the instructions of not letting Wacky Zacky get the cast wet or watching that he doesn't put anything in his cast or we will have to take him in to recast it. So far we have survived 24 hours without any problems...Unfortunately I'm not holding my breath that we will last the whole 2 weeks until our next appointment! We shall see!
Zany thought of the day:
See the precious picture above of Wacky Zacky and his cast? Can anyone really blame me for giving him anything he wants? He managed to work Papa Z and me over and had 4 packages of fun fruits and lots of other treats yesterday. At this point I feel so bad for him that he could get anything he wanted from me. Papa Z and I did talk about how we hope Wacky Zacky doesn't start breaking bones just so he can have unlimited amounts of fun fruits. Also, as the presents start rolling in (for both Wacky Zacky, and Zany Janie) I'm afraid Zany Janie might think it's a great idea for her brother to break a bone every month so she can get toys and treats! Wacky Zacky had better watch his back!

My... my... You may have trouble on your hands!
I love reading about your adventures! I hope that wacky zacky heals SUPER quickly... and stays out of any more trouble! :)
he is a darling! and such a trooper! Wish I could write on his cast - I'm sure he gets a kick out of all the attention.
Good luck, and don't beat yourself up about it! Just hope it doesn't become a habit!
Wow, what a trooper! A fracture above and below his elbow. That's one tough little cutie you got there. Heal up well, kiddo.
Poor cute little dear!
I don't have any kids - so no stories for you of their manipulation - BUT my husband and I starting dating largely as a result of me tearing up all the ligaments in my ankle...
Such a cutie pie. I too would be giving anything to him, however didn't consider a repeat for the goodies...LOL
BooBoo Kisses Wacky Zacky...
Awww, poor guy! I would be doing the same - giving him anything he wanted! It breaks my heart to see little ones in pain. Hope he heals super fast!
poor little guy!!
I would be giving him anything too! You can't help but do that when you're a mom!
Since Colby had his surgery, we've been doing the same thing! And when anyone comes to visit, they've got a present for him too!
For a kid with a broken arm, Wacky Zacky sure looks happy in his pictures. : )
After all his adventures, can't believe it was the couch that finally did him in.
