How fast does a turkey trot?

For the past six years the Zany family has participated in the Dana Point, CA Turkey Trot. It is a 5K/10K race that takes place early Thanksgiving morning. It is so much fun to see some of the racers dressed up as turkeys, Indians, Santas, reindeer, Elvis, and disco dancers. Papa Z and I ran in the race together before we had kids and I sat by the sidelines cheering him on when I was pregnant with Wacky Zacky looking like a stuffed turkey about ready to pop! Now that we have kids we have continued the tradition and hope to make it a regular part of Thanksgiving Day.

Zany thought of the day: To answer the burning question of how fast does a turkey trot? They can run up to twenty miles per hour! If I were you, I'd jump out of the way if you see one coming!

LOL...what a great tradition and a good way to rev up the metabolism to help burn off the "turkey" dinner!

Now this sounds like soooo much fun! I was thinking of helping at a soup center this year, but a trot would be a nice change of pace, too.
