What's living in the desert?

The kids and I went on an adventure with a group of moms to The Living Desert. It is a fairly small zoo located in Palm Desert, CA that has different desert animals from around the world. For those of you that are not familiar with California, Palm Desert is one of the hottest places in Southern California. Mind you it was May and the weather was a cool 95 degrees! We definitely felt like we were in the desert! It was fun to see all the animals and the entire place is decorated with various types of cactus. The downfall of the unique landscape is that along every path you need to be cautious of where you are walking so the cactus doesn't reach out and bite you! My two monkeys must be growing-up because neither of them had to have barbs picked out of their hands. However, Wacky Zacky did have a few close calls! Some of the highlights from our adventure include:

Coming face-to-face with a giraffe and feeding it a biscuit.

Wacky Zacky got to ride one of Papa Z's favorite animals: The mighty warthog!

Zany Janie raced a cheetah and won!

Zany thought of the day: If you could feed any type of animal what would it be?

my answer: a cat (of the domestic kind!)
What cool animals! We have a photo of my son feeding a giraffe who is sticking out its BLACK tongue.
