So many books, so little time!

I have been an avid reader my whole life. I love to read a variety of books, but I must admit my favorite type is what Papa Z likes to call “Smut books” or “Chick Lit”. In the past, I would devour 10 + books lounging around the pool during the summer. Since having Zany Janie, my second child, I have read one book that is more than 20 pages long! I specify the number of pages because I have read several books to the kids, many of them 30+ times! So yep, one book over 20 pages since her birth and I’m ashamed to say it took a good 3 months to get through it. It was The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore. I have bookshelves full of books just waiting to be read. I have no idea when I will get to them, but I’d love to get through just a handful this summer written by Jane Green, Marian Keyes, Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Weiner. For now, I need to stay out of the bookstores and concentrate on what I have because I have so many books and so little time!

Zany thought of the day: Have you ever been embarrassed because you are reading a book or listening to it on CD and someone picks it up or listens to it at the exact point it is describing a raunchy sex scene? Especially when there has been zero sex scenes up to that point! Somehow it happens every time Papa Z picks up one of my books. Guess that’s why he calls them “Smut books”!

Avid Reader...I vaguely recall something inside of me who too gobbles up books!

I too have a bunch that I am going to read someday, and more that I have read and am unable to give away.

I LOVE books, and have since early childhood. I use to wake up at about 3 a.m. as a child and would lay in bed reading until the rest of the family woke up.

I always read to my children, who are now adults on their own, and neither of them likes to read. Weird huh?

I've have kept the majority of these books too, maybe someday I will pass them on to a grandchild.

Oh, I miss reading too! It seems like life doesn't leave me much time for it anymore. Good luck with your reading, I hope you get time to read them all soon.

hahaha I love how he calls them "smut books"!! They are awesome though, and that is usually all I read is "chick lit"!!! Jane Green is one of my faves.. I have gotten through tw of her books just this summer... my son is 4 and he is finally to the age where he can play outside and I can read while I am out there with him.. plus I have been staying up way too late to read lately!!! I guess the break from school made me want to read something other than anatomy books!!! :) xooxx and good luck reading!

Papa Z obviously has a gift! When he was a teenager he would do the same to me and embarrass me in front of everyone. I'm just glad it's you and not me.:)

In response to your zany thought of the day:

YES

my mom nonetheless. I don't even like romance novels and stuff like that, but I was like 15 or something and reading a book at the camper and my mom happened to see a word on the page that caught her eye and read over my shoulder - yikes!

hey, at least her teenager read books
