Is it the shirt or the man in the shirt?

Papa Z and I went out on a date while his parents battled the Zany babies at home. Throughout our whole date luck seemed to be on our side. We leisurely walked hand in hand around a cutesy historical downtown area and the weather was perfect. There was no chasing Wacky Zacky around to keep him out of the street or pushing Zany Janie in a stroller while keeping a vigilant eye out for anything she might throw from the diaper bag.

Next, we tried out a new Sushi restaurant in town. It was amazing to sit and eat in peace without having to perform a whole horse and pony show for the kids. We didn't have to scarf our food down with one hand while attending to our assigned kid with the other. There was a family in the restaurant with a very rowdy toddler and we smiled knowing the majority of time we are "that family" that everyone else in the restaurant is glaring at and thinking how badly behaved that child is being. I first realized how lucky our date seemed to be when the server brought out the Spider Roll and the soft shell crab hanging off the ends of the roll were bigger than my head...Well, maybe not quite that big, but at least as big as Zany Janie's head. And it was scrumptious!

Then we went to Kohl's because I had a birthday gift card that's been burning a hole in my pocket. Papa Z helped me pick out several tops to try on and I must admit most of the clothes I ended up getting were picked out not by me, but by Papa Z. Luck seemed to strike a second time when we got up to the register to pay. We were just about to get the total when the cashier said out of the blue that she wanted to give Papa Z a 15% family/friend's discount! Papa Z smirked and pointed to his green shirt.

Finally, we went to Cold Stone Creamery and Papa Z ordered my usual, a "Cookie don't you want some" creation. Luck seemed to strike a third time when they put not one but TWO balls of cookie dough in my ice-cream! That left us joking and cackling about his lucky green shirt.

As I think back over our date a burning question seems to be unanswered: Is it the shirt or the man in the shirt that is getting all this special treatment?

Zany thought of the day: All this talk of luck and green shirts has me thinking of leprechauns. Did you know prior to the 20th century, it was generally agreed that the leprechaun wore red not green? That my friend is a fun fact that you need to tuck away in your memory because you never know when that information might come in handy!

sounds like a wonderful date... and it's the man in the shirt! What a cutie - Zane definitely takes after him! *hehe*

Maybe we can do a test & have everyone dress their partners in a grenn shirt like it & see how our luck is? Actually - a night out would be enough luck for me. I too am usually "that family".

Glad you had such an enjoyable nite out! Those are definietly needed every now and then! And my guess would be...it was a mix between the shirt and the guy in the shirt!

Because I am his mother and just a bit prejudiced I would definitely have to go with the "man in the shirt".

I could use one of your "lucky" nights right about now! The thing I miss about California are my babysitters! We haven't had an evening alone since we arrived in Indy......4 months ago!
I am glad you guys had a great time!

Sounds like you had a great time. It is good to go on an adult only date once in a while..

Sounds like a fabulous date! We keep saying we're going to make a habit of going out baby-free, but we hardly ever get around to it... have to make more time for it now and then!
